Built by the people who designed the market.

Dagenta provides AI-native power trading services from Paris. We optimise flexible assets on the markets on behalf of their developers and operators, and we trade on our own account as the counterpart of flexibility and renewables.

0per cent of German power production came from renewables in 2025, up from 17 in 2010.
0×growth in continuous intraday volume since 2015. Germany leads it.
0per cent of that volume trades as 15-minute products, the unit we work in.
0per cent of volume now trades in the final hour before delivery.
Our story

We set out to build the trading house the energy transition was missing.

Our founders designed, ran and priced the European power exchanges. They watched the system move from a few large plants to millions of distributed assets, wind and solar drive intermittency, and the short-term markets become the place where flexibility and renewables meet.

Dagenta is what they built with that knowledge: a trading platform that encodes market design and regulation into the models themselves, run with a fraction of the headcount of a classic trading house, and used for both of our activities, optimising assets for others and trading for ourselves.

AI-native from the first line of code

Models are tuned and retrained by AI agents. Trading follows an AI-selected strategy under human supervision. The assets we optimise on behalf of others run on the same desk we trade on ourselves.

What we do

The Dagenta platform

One desk, one contract, one data integration. Two activities on the German and French short-term markets, built on the desk we run ourselves.

On-behalf optimisation

  • Flexible assets optimised on the markets for their developers and operators
  • Batteries, solar leaving the tariff, EV fleets, aggregators
  • Day-ahead and intraday, around the clock

Route to market

  • Exchange and clearing memberships, balancing group
  • Scheduling, TSO nominations, balancing responsibility
  • Settlement and regulatory reporting

Proprietary trading

  • Market counterpart of flexibility and renewables
  • Liquidity: bids and offers on the intraday market
  • Bilateral physical agreements on the wholesale market

Technology

  • Proprietary real-time pricing engine
  • AI-selected strategies, human-supervised, pre-trade risk controls
  • Direct exchange and clearing interfaces
What we watch

Three signals, every quarter-hour

The short-term markets exist to settle the difference between what was forecast and what was delivered, and that is where flexibility earns its value. These are the things our desk lives by.

Forecast error

Every added gigawatt of wind and solar widens the band between forecast and delivery. That band is settled on the intraday market, and it is widest exactly when it hurts most.

Delivery today-- / 96--:-- – --:--next product

96 products a day

Fifteen-minute products are the unit we work in. The ring is live on the CET clock: each segment is one delivery period, and trading in a period closes five minutes before it starts.

Delivered physically

Every position we take, for ourselves or for the assets we optimise, is delivered physically through our balancing group. Move your pointer over the grid: the lines light up where power flows.

How we work

How we trade

01 — 04 →

Market design, encoded

Traditional AI learns historical patterns, treats power as a generic market and breaks when the rules evolve. We encode market design and regulation into the models, because the people who wrote the rules built the platform.

02 — 04 →

AI scales execution, people supervise

AI agents tune and retrain the models and select the strategy. Trading runs under human supervision, with pre-trade risk controls on every order.

03 — 04 →

Two activities, one engine

On behalf of asset owners we optimise flexibility against published exchange reference prices, fully auditable. On our own account we quote bids and offers and take the other side of renewables and flexibility trades. Both run on the same pricing engine and the same risk controls.

04 — 04 →

Built on our own desk

Every asset we optimise for others runs on the desk we run ourselves, on the German and French short-term markets, quarter-hour by quarter-hour. Our clients get the pricing engine and the risk controls we trust with our own capital.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

If yours is not here, write to us and we will answer it directly.

Is Dagenta a trading house or an aggregator?

Both. We trade on our own account as the market counterpart of flexibility and renewables, and we optimise flexible assets on the markets on behalf of their developers and operators, on the same desk and the same pricing engine.

Who do you work with?

On the optimisation side: battery developers and operators, solar producers leaving their feed-in tariff, EV fleets and charging operators, and aggregators. On the trading side: renewable producers, municipal utilities and retailers, PPA corporates, electrolysers and data centres that need a counterpart on the short-term markets.

Do I need a MiFID licence to work with you?

No. Our contracts are bilateral physical agreements, outside the financial-instrument perimeter, and the assets we optimise are marketed through our own exchange memberships and balancing group. Everything is fully reported under energy-market regulation.

Which markets do you operate in?

We focus on the German and French short-term markets, day-ahead and intraday, with 15-minute products at the centre of what we do.

How do we get started?

One contract and one data integration. Tell us about your assets, your portfolio or your position on the short-term markets, and we will come back with what we can do and what it would cost.
